Reimagined Time Packets Information

Re-Imagined Time
Hopefully we will have a mild winter like we did last year. However, in the Greenbrier Valley, we never quite know what the weather will hold.

WV Code requires county school systems to provide a minimum of 180 instructional days. Time lost due to inclement weather closings must be made up. Fortunately, in Greenbrier County, we have accrued instructional time because our school day is longer than required in code. Legislation now allows us to count some of the accrued time for make-up.
The first five snow days, Greenbrier County Schools will use accrued instructional time for make-up. Students and most staff will not report. The second five snow days will be “Reimagined Time” days. These will be announced on media as Reimagined Time days 1, 2, 3, etc. (Keep in mind that these days may not be in a row.) The days will count as instructional days as students will complete at home work provided to them from the school. All staff will report to work. Students will remain at home. Teachers will be available via email to answer parent and student questions. The Superintendent reserves the right to call any of these days a closure due to weather. In such a case, the day will be made up at the end of the year.

Subsequent snow days will be made up at the end of the school year. In the unfortunate scenario of more than 20 snow days, some days may have to be made up during the designated spring break.

At the elementary level, reimagined time packets will be given to students in January 5th. Please place the packets in a safe location. Pay attention to media for inclement weather days labeled Reimagined Time Days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and complete the corresponding packet which will be collected the next day school is in session.

Thank you for the support of your student’s learning. If you have question you are welcome to call Rupert Elementary @ 304.392.5235 or email Mrs. Harden @

Principal's Message 2017-2018
Welcome to Rupert Elementary School where character counts and hard work is rewarded. I am anxious to get started this year. I am excite to return after a restful and fun summer.

Our theme this year is “We’re All In This Together”. We will be working together to make each day count. I encourage you to read with your students each night at least 20 minutes. I welcome families to participate in your child’s learning. We are a learning community that need teachers, custodians, aides, cooks, secretaries, bus drivers, parents and community members and all involved in the child’s life to participate in our goal and that is all students can succeed. Our positive behavior support program is T.I.D.E. which is Talented Individuals Demonstrating Excellence. We have expectations posted throughout the school and in the classrooms. We will continue with our P.B.I.S which is positive behavior interventions and supports. This means we support learners and strive to support students with positive interventions in order to change behavior. I look forward to working with you during this year. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 304-392-5235.
